Deepwater Step by Step (2 of 42)
Once the Benchwork was completed and the back two tracks were laid, it was time to start the Inlet and Pier. The base of the inlet is poured plaster lightly sanded after drying. Imperfections were filled with sheet rock spackle ("mud"). The "water" was painted with acrylics. I had a test, plaster covered, board that I used to test colors before actually painting the inlet. This is Dark Blue, Purple, Olive Green and Grey mixed until I was finally satisfied. Nope, I could never duplicate the color, something to think about in the future. Once I was happy with the base color, as seen in this photo, I diluted green, yellow and brown and kinda swirled these on top one color at a time. The retaining wall is strip wood from Hobby Lobby, so its not to scale, dry brushed with Barn Red acrylic paint. The dark spots are from a stiff brush and dark grey and black chalks.
